On our beach trips, she would search the shoreline for the exoskeletons of sea urchins. Finding one that was not cracked or damaged was rare, but it was always so exciting when it did happen. While living at Holloways I remember mum taking us to spend time at the camp of Old Man Dick Roughsey (deceased) and his wife Elsie

while freshwater mussel shells and oval-shaped eggs (depicted in the artwork) symbolise the intricate ecosystem beneath the water’s surface
